DIY Straw earrings

Summer is here...35°C ( 95°F ) at noon, It makes you just want to jump into a swimming pool and drink a cocktail! Too bad we don't live near the beach!
So a little summer tutorial (or to bring summer where is still cold weather) to recycle your cocktail straws into nice earrings!

You gonna need: Staws, glue, jump rings, earring wires.

Cut neon straw into small pieces. Make 2 holes with a needle, pass a jump rings into it and fix earring wire. I drew a circle on paper to make the shape and glue straw pieces together. I used super glue...it work good but smell very bad, might have been preferable to use a glue gun!

I've made another pair with painted straw.

Cut and glue straw pieces together, spray paint them. When it's dry, fix earrings wires.

DIY Coat hook

Tell me if I'm the only one to find perfume bottles and especially caps are too nice to be thrown away?
So I found a way to reuse them...well at least the caps....Making coat hooks!!!

It's so easy, you gonna need:

 Start cutting bottle corks so they can fit into caps:

Make a hole in the wall, place the plug. Make a hole in the cork and place the screw.
Fix in the wall, don't over tighten the screws as this may break the cork.

 Place the cap on top and voila!

 I used silver geometric caps, so it gives a quite modern result, but it should look very nice with colorful or crazy shapes caps !

DIY Tote bag

I'm supposed to start a part-time job as a French teacher ... but I'm still waiting for my schedule!  
As far as I remember my favorite part of going back to school was the new stuffs you get: pencils, pen, markers, schoolbag ... it was always so fun!  
So to start, I needed a new bag to put my lessons and books (which I still haven't).
And because no one need to get back to school to have a new bag, I made a tutorial for you!

You gonna need faux-leather, thread, and 4 eyelets. If you want a funky version I'm pretty sure oilcloth fabric will work! So let's start the tutorial:

Pass a ribbon or a strip of faux leather between the eyelets and close with a knot. Et voila!

Perfect for toting books and magazines. I think I'll use it as a handbag in the meantime! And then I would have to stop making bags ( bag, bag and bag ) for now, I run out of storage!

Pasta necklace...again!

I know....this is the third post (for those who follow) with pasta necklaces ... I can't stop! 
We went to Belgium a few weeks ago to visit family but also for my cousin wedding! My sister had a nice long green dress and she wanted a gold necklace to go with! Of course I offered to make her one!
I found inspiration on BuzzFeed! A few months ago one of my necklaces was featured in this article 13 DIY Ideas Straight From New York's Runways. So I took the idea of the necklace from Creatures of Comfort, and made ​​a spaghetti version of it!

Let start with the tutorial: 
Cut a piece of faux leater like the first picture. 
Glue spaghetti up to half on recto side, and other spaghetti up to the half on verso side.
Pass the chain in the middle of this piece and fold in half.

I glued first, and tried to pass the chain after...not a good idea! So believe me it's gonna be easier to put the chain at this step.

To finish, just paint with acrylic. I used a gold color.

Result is very chic, but you have to be careful with this version of pasta necklace, spaghetti are not glued all over the fabric, so they are more fragile.

I also made a pair of earrings to match!

 And once I had finished my daughter, 3 years old, thought it was a good idea to play hammer on the necklace .... aaaarrrggg! I know... I should have put away my stuff!

DIY vase

Here is an easy idea to display flowers! I get the inspiration from the  Vase d'avril of Tsé-Tsé designers.
I used tequila glasses and embroidery thread, it took me only 15 minutes to make this project!

I took 6 tequila glasses, you can use more if you want, and two different color embroidery thread.

Make a node around the first glass.

Pass threats around glasses, one way and then the other.

Make several turns until you have the desired thickness of threat around glasses. Cut bits of yarn and tie a knot between each glass to keep them together.

That's it! Put some flowers and enjoy! If you do it with more glasses, you gonna be able to gather the glasses together to form a circle, a wave or whatever you want.

DIY wolf costume

Tomorrow is "el dia del niño", so there is an event organized on school. Parents of each class must present a show! We have to play the tale of Little Red Riding Hood ... and you have understood my role in the play!
I obviously had not wolf  costume at hand, so I found this tutorial and pattern on the wonderful Elli blog!

I made it with foam and sew the pieces on the sweater (still want to use it after the play). It was very simple to do, hope kids are gonna like it! I'll let you know, See you!
